There are many aspects of wellness. 'Physical Wellness' focuses on living longer, healthier and more vibrant lives. 'Personal Wellness' has to do with achieving balance, freedom and peace of mind in your personal and family life. 'Environmental Wellness' is making our homes and the environment cleaner and safer places to live and enjoy. 'Financial Wellness' focuses on getting out of debt and securing your financial future.
Many people these days are focusing on 'Physical Wellness, going 'Green' physically and environmentally. It is very important to have a 'green' environment for small children especially because of their delicate immune system and sensitivity to every new thing.
Our bodies were no made to consume or bathe in chemicals. Babies and small children, as well as adults, are susceptible to harsh chemicals in their environment. When chemicals are inhaled, particles ofthe chemicals get into the lungs and therefore into the blood system. When surfaces are touched that have just been 'cleaned' with chemicals, (interferring with the 'Environmental Wellness'), particles are absorbed by the skin. Just think about all these chemicals inching their way into your body, or worse yet, into your baby's body. Too mant of these chemicals are carcinogenic. After a few years of building up in the body, is it any wonder so many people in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer??
'Personal Wellness' is extremely important. Those who do not have balance in their lives are those who have nervous break downs, leave their families for no 'apparent' reason, and worse, are seen on the evening news for crimes against their family and humanity.
For Moms who need to maintain some balance, there are organizations now who are responding to the apparent need. When my 3 children were pre school, I was a member of the local YMCA. Not only were we able to Y-Hop, that is to be able to visit more than just our local facility, they offered 'Moms Morning Out'. What a blessing this was to me!! I have seen signs at churches that offer programs as well, like 'MOPS', Mothers of Pre Schoolers. I could go shopping, or just have lunch with a friend for a couple hours, without worring about my children! And never mind the crying and reaching for Mommy. They get over it in just a couple minutes. I would ask. Trust me, my kids had a ball as soon as I was no longer in sight!! Yes, it is hard to do at first, as a Mom-just like exercise-'Just Do It'!! You'll be amazed and glad you did!! And your children will be better off for it too.
